Mat_5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
Jesus said this to incorporate the general principle of LOVE......he did NOT intend for people to be "doormats" to wicked men.
There are times were it may be necessary to seek legal counsel and advice.
Wicked men MAY use the law against you and that is when the verse Mat 5:40 applies to you.
A few places where legal issues need to be enforced TO protect the innocent:
1. Issues of race or nationality. A person cannot change their natural born heritage. No man deserves unequal treatment because he was born or has ancestors from a different "tribe" on this earth. Stealing of a person's identity and identifiable "nationality" or "ancestry" is a crime against humanity. If there is hatred towards a family member, a person needs to stand against that pressure.
2. Issues of disability. A person may not be able to stand fully for a certain ceremony. He or she does not deserve to be "left out" in the dark. In some cases, a maternity condition can cause issues where a woman's life is in danger or the woman was unjustly treated with her unborn children.
3. Sexuality crimes in regards to the protection of minors. Even church groups who are not prepared may need some justice. Sexuality crimes that lead to severe mistreatment of endangered adults. Don't play the fool and purposefully trust "questionable" people.
4. Improper treatment in a "healthcare" kind of way.
5. Domestic violence that leads to severe mistreatment.
6. Negligent food preparation practices. Negligent safety measures. If these things affect the general population and the general population is at risk, then legal counsel would be needed.
7. Improper "payment" for employees. Excessive work hours. If these things are affecting the health and well-being of the people.
*In general if the issue is protecting the GENERAL population and not just those of Christian faith, then assume that the LEGAL system is needed to protect the overall people.
A few places where legal issues may not and sometimes should never be necessary to enforce proper justice in a biblical sense, but the common man uses these measures. Reason is because UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is what redeems us.....not legal matters:
1. Not being allowed into a group or situation because of a person's nationality or heritage. ie. a native american tribe does not a person who shows no evidence of their heritage representing or speaking for them.
2. Location for gathering of believers
3. Choosing life, carrying to full term, when the legal system says you should choose death.
4. Sexuality choices where a person chooses to forsake a marriage covenant and sue the betrayed spouse. ie. Nero was a man who had no self-control
5. Helping others in need. If they will "sue you" for helping the innocent, then your reward is in heaven.
6. Taking a stand against terror. If they "sue you" because you don't support something that causes terror, including religious beliefs, then let them "sue you."
7. Taking away your business rights because of your faith. Increasing your taxes because of your faith.
8. Loss of a job because of your faith.
9. Vandalism or hate-filled comments from those who are not bible believers. Expect these things. A person can talk about things and confront the things they are saying, but coming after them isn't necessary because they don't know the TRUTH.
10. Gossip, scorn, ridicule, mockery etc. We cannot control how others mistreat us, even in the guise of their imagination. Some day all that will pass away.
11. Someone generally disliking what you "created" in writing, art, design or other expression of speech.
There are most certainly other examples, but as a person can see, these issues are basically centered on the HEART. People want MONEY, so they USE people to get what they want for themselves, instead of TRUSTING in his redemption.
