People from all nations, tribes and tongues (even Hebrew/Jewish) can have a vail of "ignorance" in some way or another. Does ignorance mean they are living in sin? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. Maybe they don't know the traditions and practices of the different tribe? Maybe they don't understand the languages. Ignorance can happen at anytime. Furthermore, maybe there is an ignorance of the "supernatural"as various tribes subscribe to such belief and practices even before the arrival of Christian beliefs. Maybe there is a veil of ignorance about the true heart condition and behavior of the people in the middle east both Jewish and Gentile people could have this sort of "ignorance." Overall, I believe it is an ignorance of God's word and his laws.
Because of this ignorance, should we -hate- them? No, that wouldn't make sense in the light of the gospel.
Because of this ignorance, should we -love- to the point of catering in favor of such ignorance? No, that wouldn't make sense either.
Rather, one should love the person who is in -ignorance- in the light of the TRUTH in the gospel.
The Truth is that people sinned through ignorance! They DIDN'T know the law perhaps. They didn't comprehend that it was ok to have more than one wife and God would still love them. -Ignorance- left to continue, until it leads to sin (such as hatred, variance, distance between brothers etc) creates problems for humanity. So there is the -sin of ignorance- Leviticus 4:2
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:
As a whole, the university system, despises -God's laws- and wants people to "think" appropriately without such a guide. As a result, ignorance brews. Ignorance then leads to sin. Furthermore, where do church fights happen? More than likely it is because people have the -sin of ignorance- brewing. They don't want to understand their brother or sister in Christ's pain and agony. They don't really want to know the scripture.
