Old Testament and NT explanation: Prophecy

(Christians may do these things in a "spiritual" sense and changing the approach to dealing with justice, but reality is that these laws are for the land of Israel and the times before Christ explained proper Justice and Mercy.)  CHRISTIAN DO meditate on these verses, OLD and NEW.  Gain better ground at the righteousness in Judgement of the Lord.

Prophecy

  1. To heed the call of every prophet in each generation, provided that he neither adds to, nor takes away from the Torah (Deut. 18:15) (affirmative).
  2. Not to prophesy falsely (Deut. 18:20) (CCN175).
  3. Not to refrain from putting a false prophet to death nor to be in fear of him (Deut. 18:22) (negative).

Deu 18:15  The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

Deu 18:20  But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

Deu 18:22  When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

(Rev 2:20) Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

(Rev 16:13) And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

(Heb 1:1) God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

(2Pe 2:1) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

(Mat 1:22) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

(Mat 11:9) But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
