This means various things for various people.
They may honour their father and mother off and on, by visiting once in a while when they are an adult. A person does not need to be "wealthy" to show some sort of kindness.
They may honour their father and mother's family extended family. Showing kindness and respect when given the opportunity.
YES! There may be SIN or unnecessary jealousy from a person's own father and mother. There may be SIN or unnecessary jealousy from a person's father and mother extended family.
Does this mean that we need to WORSHIP these people that have been in our lives?
NO! Worship Jesus.....pay attention to his goodness. People have flaws and live in ways that are not right in his eyes.
Some people grew up in homes that were with SEVERE problems.
Don't focus on the BAD...... focus on what you can DO FOR OTHERS in these situations and conditions.
YOU DO NOT need to do what THEY want you to do (go to a special religious practice.....a traditional drinking party or other ungodly thing that you do not follow or believe any longer after being saved from whatever "it" happens to be). Trying to PLEASE them will only bring heartache. Seek the LORD and do what he wants you to do......for them.
