Many say that the future of America is dependent upon the educated student body. I personally cannot say what type of education is best for every family. Many families are still under pressure due to historical issues, either race related or poor choices of generations before..... Education is becoming more and more expensive (public and private resources), and the student doesn't end up obtaining skills to raise their own children, with healthy relationships from generation to generation in a safe manner when education is given more strength than HEART change and the conditions therein.
What type of education are the children receiving? Are they learning how to use their body to toy-around.....or are they learning how to control their body to serve others with brotherly love? Some educational structures are designed to help the child fail in relationship and understanding how to handle things appropriately and with responsibility for their future children and relationships. Bad relationship environments for the children = wicked children who have not thought of others.
When educating the child, the child needs whole heart education, else the child slumbers in a delusion that it is ok to "murder the innocent." The innocent can be of any stage in the development of human life and from any nationality background. That murdering practice in the abortion clinic is just as corrupt as at the schools and public areas in God's eyes. Don't assume only xyz group of people are the only one who have to deal with problems. Embezzlers have infiltrated themselves into any walk of life.
So should America depend upon its schools to "fix" America and American life alone. The answer is simply this. Education isn't dependent upon fixing up a single nation. It is dependent upon fixing up the condition of humanity as whole. There are schools in other nations that purposefully train their children to HATE other nations......like the nation of Israel or a certain group of people. Hence, it is essential to teach "brotherly love," else these ugly things keep brewing. The reason the commandments were given was to help humanity understand the fragile and vital need for redemption to keep from harm.
If a public school is needed, it should be available for those in 5th to 8th grade. Students of the middle school age are the most likely to need educational "repair" when the parents simply have limited resources and strengths. After the 8th grade, a private type of schooling with either a secular (sometimes meaningful experience is ignored because of fears in the parents) or Christian view point, with close parental involvement would enhance the child's ability to corner the problems in his or her character. Letting the child wander on their own terms never helped any child in the past and it won't help for the future.
The high school age seems to be the most vicious when it comes to peer-pressure. The folly culture of me-first when it comes to human sexuality leads to distorted understanding of the purpose behind what it means to SERVE OTHERS before self......so that TRUE love can last a lifetime. Such love is dependent on the CREATOR and REDEEMER. The 9th through 12th grade would need more opportunity to learn how to overcome selfish ways......what ever that may be. Boredom leads to bad thoughts of others and so forth.

I cannot say what a guaranteed NEVER FAIL solution to the issue of education happens to be for our nation's future or any nation for that matter, but I guarantee if people are not aware of and open to listening to things like the scripture (Luk_13:34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!), the ugly nature of man WILL continue to destroy the children from generation to generation.
In summary, I do not believe "public schools" will fix this nation or any nation's future. Rather it is HEART change in people to do what is right in the EYES of the CREATOR and REDEEMER is what will fix our nation's future and other nation's futures as well. It is BETTER to be in a country without "religious freedom" and constantly under persecution just to get an education in the bible, than to sit at Ceasar's feet (he often teaches distorted things and lies to the children in order to see children as a number for money and product) and expect better things to happen for our nation.
Many books have been written about issues where the schools have "destroyed" or "distorted" the purpose for the children simply by rewriting the child's heart to love in brotherly love and create HATRED instead. If the education is not "filtered" through scripture, it is likely to have something wrong with it.
