Christian Liberty: Education (2)

Education especially in the Western cultures has developed and changed through the influence of the bible, whether they want to admit this fact or not.  The "western culture" doesn't always necessarily appreciate and approve of the idea that one man, one very old man, could build an ark on his own and all the animals could float in that boat, but according to the scripture the given time frame for this event is given.  Darwinism seems to "infect" the minds of many youth and young adults these days, while they entirely have misinterpreted the "purpose" behind that old "ark."  Since the founding of the USA....the idea of War vs. Peace has also been a part of the battle between good and evil.

If a person had absolutely "nothing" for educational material on hand, a bible in one's own language serves fine and dandy for building up educational strength.  The KJV bible is written up to a 5th grade reading level.  Of course there ARE people who do not interpret the scriptures as a book written by mostly Jewish authors, even the New Testament, so if they don't know anyone who is "middle eastern" per-say, they may have the wrong ideas about the bible in mind.  The bible itself is both "eastern and western" structure.  The bible is a book of "meditation" if you will.  "Meditation" is an EASTERN way of doing things.  One can find this element of the book by observing and studying the build of the tabernacle.  The people who worked in the tabernacle had to light the "lantern" daily, morning and evening.  Psalm 1 gives a clue to its eastern elements.

Anyhow, because of this, if a person is wise parent or guardian, they will choose the "eastern" method of daily meditation on the scripture for themselves, like in the Psalms and Proverbs and given portion of "the law".  The practice of reading through such "proper character" in a man (or woman) helps relieve the soul of infirmity and misunderstanding of what the creator requires of his people.  By doing this particular "thing" each day, the child LEARNS these simple concepts related to how to function in "this world."

The stories, even the simple stories like Jacob and Esau represent elements that are found in other cultures around the world.  The idea that a man is born with a "good side" and a "bad side."  So when discussing the bible stories, try looking into other stories of different cultures that are similar.

What ever way a person interprets the scripture, even if it is slightly skewed or has improper exegesis, the most important thing is that the child is GIVEN the opportunity to understand elements of TRUTH because a parent or guardian gave them the opportunity in the first place.

Essentially, if a person is "fearful" about how the bible will be used to influence the educational condition of the child, I would say that it is probably something that isn't a thing to worry about because all it takes is to read various parts and pieces of the scripture to the child, and the child will learn anything and everything just fine.  Even reading through the design of the tabernacle will offer much science and math exposure.  A parent with a 2nd grade education, that reads to the child from the bible for 1/2 hour or more per day will give the child more educational strength than a child that has never heard the scripture.  Why?  Well such children under this type of teaching have passed out of "high-school" level teachings at the age of -12- simply because they were exposed to "ancient manuscript".
