Should submissive wife support further education?

A stay-at-home mom can be from any educational back ground.  What we do hear a lot in "conservative Christian circles" is that further education is BAD for the people who support and follow the bible.  However, is this REALLY the truth?  Does higher education limit people of faith to practice their Christian beliefs?  The bible clearly says "seek wisdom."

Often times, a person of faith must rely on others to get things done in their world and in this world in general.  What the under-educated person will not notice is much of the things that make their world (and the world in general) spin, is the educated people.  How would a person like to get a doughnut at a coffee shop and the worker never had the opportunity to learn the English language?  A person skilled in language translation more than likely helped this person learn the language, it was NOT all done by computer this and that.

What about the preservation of the gospel?  Historical evidence?  History of the persecuted church?  Failures in men and women from our history?  These things all require some type of education, even if the educated people don't believe in the gospel, the methods of getting the "historical raw data" to you, DID require some sort of degree in library science, computer science and other types of knowledge base.

When we go to a bank (as most homes do require the use of money these days), we need to work with people who "balance" accounting for us!  Yes, the basic teller did not need any more than an 8th grade education as even high-school students can become teller at a bank, but the loan office and the person behind the computer and filing systems did need quite a bit of education to keep the bank open!

As you can see, education beyond 8th grade is "neutral."  There is TRUTH in further education and there are LIES in further education.  A basic 8th grade education will get a man through life in any western nation, BUT the upper level thinking and skills required some HIGHER LEVEL education.  The bible itself is written at about a 5th grade level!  However, the deeper things like the history and evidence to describe the bible would require higher level education. Even basic midwifery would only require an 8th grade education!  However, the challenging cases of difficult pregnancy does require more than 8th grade education!

A person does NOT need to go to college to study "Darwinism" per-say, or even get into the unusual philosophical things that are confusing to youthful minds bent on rebellion(hence Christian colleges arise out of the darkness to eliminate much needless studies).  They may study other things that may be studied that are skill oriented, like carpentry (as Jesus grew up around carpentry folks), electronics, accounting, welding, basic health care and so forth.  We really do depend upon educated people, but we must mostly depend upon our creator.

Should WOMEN pursue such higher education?  Especially if they are considering marriage at some time in their life?  The answer is simply this: make sure that her education is valuable enough so that if a tragedy comes upon her family, be it single parenting or disability in the spouse, she may supply the extra hand to support the family and keep it going.  She should not ASSUME that she will ALWAYS be making a big career and name for herself, as this WOULD be against God's wisdom and goals for womanhood as a whole......children do NOT deserve to be neglected all for the sake of paying off large sums of folly living that occurred during the college years.

Try CHUCKING COLLEGE as a resource to understand the college environment.  Try REMNANT EDUCATION to learn how to pursue more frugal and godly higher education
