True Christ followers vs. culture and vain philosophy

Matthew 5:17

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

How do we know who is truly following Christ vs. those who are following the mere traditions of men? Guess what......it is very hard to know the difference. However, we can see the fruits in people's lives. Darkness in people's lives comes to the light.

We will never be able to judge who is following Christ and who is not. Only God really knows.

Love as a whole helps mankind fulfill all of the law and the prophets.

You as a person may choose to follow the writings of a person who promotes quiverful lifestyle and housewife trends. Or another trend that follows Purpose Driven Life or TBN style of preachers. Another may follow anabaptist trends. Yet another has a tendency to appreciate the unique nature of Catholicism. These trends and cultures have their source of vain philosophy that leads to death rather than life in Christ. Some of these leaders have their own sin that they cover up. It could be fornication, thieving, money laundering and more.

However, the simplest way to know who is following Christ is shown by a person's love for other people:

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Fulfilling the obligation to love others more than one's self helps bring in the light to mankind. Works and faith get twisted unless it is evaluated by God and the scripture.

A true Christ follower usually does not make any effort to put him or her self on a pedestal. They are concerned for the health and well being of children without the need to rely on FDA principles. They appreciate the fellowship with widows and forgotten people of society. They see a need to serve others MORE than themselves.

All in all, "by their fruits ye shall know them." matt 7:20 They may be a part of a group or they may be independent, but the care in their life for others show us who they really are in reality. They may have been scorned severely or abused by others or they may have very few scars from others.

When they say that Christ changed the law.....we are not to listen to them because God doesn't change and God is love. Any one who promotes the cultural trends and holidays as more important than scriptural truth is more than likely confused about scripture in the first place. We can be thankful that God supplies us with free-will so no one can ever force anyone to follow Christ. And no one can force you to follow a false teacher.
