Let your light shine

In today's fast paced modern world it is difficult to slow down and enjoy the things that our ancestors used to live with every day of their lives. They did not have the modern conveniences that we commonly have today. Of course the conveniences are nice but they really can be a hassle if we put the things first before friends and family. To reflect on our past and embrace the simple things in life I purchased a simple oil lantern at Walmart and occasionally light only the lantern and turn off all of the other lights in the house. It is so great to watch my ds admire the only light in the house. Sometimes we read and do daily house tasks by the light of the lantern and other times we simply keep it lit to illuminate the room and add a sense of old fashioned glamor and light up our child-like immaginations.

In today's dark world we must remember that Christ light is still shining bright. Even though many people are blind to the light and continue to walk in darkness, we as Christians are still to keep our light shining.....even when we are standing next to many blind people.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
(Matthew 5:16)

Simple task for spiritual renewal: Darken your whole house and read your bible by lantern or candle light....It will remind you of how our forefathers read, studied and translated the bible by mere candlelight.
