First of all, assume the Jesus was on the cross in AD 31. Assume he was on the cross during the FIRST NEW MOON of the "Abib." The Abib NEVER begins before spring equinox!
The phases are technologically observable through astronomical computer simulation, like Stelarium.
The Gregorian calendar year is 2018 this year. 2018-31 = 1987. Jesus died and rose 1987 years ago essentially.
There are 3 calendar cycles in the Qumran calendar, which determine the "moon phases" to observe.
1987/3 = 662.333333 In other words, the calendar cycle to use, would not be calendar cycle 1 or 3. The optimal calendar cycle to use would be the second calendar cycle this year.
Not considering that the year 2018 could be a leap year......assume that the "Abib" simply begins during the "New Moon" and Passover occurs during the FULL MOON.
The "New Moon" occurs BEFORE the Spring Equinox (March 17, 7th day of the week) in the year 2018, so this is NOT the beginning of the year.
The "New Moon" that occurs AFTER the Spring Equinox (April 16, 2nd day of the week) in the year 2018, is a possible time for the beginning of the year! The calendar would begin on the 4th day of the week. The Full Moon occurs on 30th of April, so Passover would actually be on the 14th of Abib, the 3rd day of the week.
Note: This is for purposes of illustrating how to use the QUMRAN CALENDAR in modern era. It is not based on the current Jewish calendar, though it is very similar in nature and pattern. There is a high possibility that the Jews used the Qumran calendar at the time Jesus died and rose from the grave. Jesus died as a Essene.
Second Note: The condition of "axial procession" causes the location of the Full Moon to be in a different location among the constellations than it was in AD 31, but the "pattern" still works today. Knowing different things about "Astronomy" doesn't negate people's beliefs, it just transforms it in a different way. Kinda like getting together for a "family holiday" one month before or after the holiday, still brings joyful fellowship, even if the TRUE day is different.
