I am not going to tell you how old this earth happens to be. God himself doesn't give the "direct" answer about the age of the earth, but he DOES give clues. He gives clues by astronomy data and the age of the patriarchs. One can then conclude various things from the "biblical age of the earth" by doing the calculations. Furthermore, these ages can even coordinate with the patterns of astronomy. ie. Jacob lived to be 147 which fits into 3 Jubilees and a certain number of Venus cycles.
The common "science" theme is to assume that the earth is 100,000 years old...... err wait, 100,000,000,000 years old. It all depends on the political "theme" at the moment. While the bible simply says where men came from after "Noah."
Essentially, the bible teaches men to pay attention to TRUST in the CREATOR and REDEEMER more than trusting in men while here on this earth. Men of this earth want you to "solve" man-made problems with man-made wisdom essentially.
