Should a home-education child read EVERY missionary story?

The question is this, should a home-education child read EVERY missionary story, especially if they are coming from a Christian household?

The answer is simply this.

Absolutely NO.

There are MANY cases where a child who grew up in a "missionary household" or a "Christian household" is exposed to TOO much Christianity where they completely INSULT the work of GOD in TRUE Christian households!

YIKES!

It would be better for a child to go to a public school from the age of 10-14 for a semester or two and only occasionally hear a missionary story, while instead immersing themselves in "real life" stories of various people groups.

Look at it like this, if a child is "indoctrinated" to ONLY become a missionary, they will TURN away from the truth and dislike it!  Yes, the bible says to do OTHER things besides constant evangelism.  It says to praise him, glorify him, sing hymns etc.  Read the story of King David.  He went through many many ups and downs.  So don't assume that "mission work" is the ULTIMATE life of a Christian.

Simply encourage the child to DO GOOD in GOD's EYES and not in MAN'S EYES.  Show examples of that in SOME mission work, but more in the work of WHAT the HOLY SPIRIT DID in people's lives that caused them to turn from bad to good works.

Here are some suggested reading materials:

Voice of the Martyrs - sometimes

Anabaptist publications and persecutions - more often

Jewish culture and history - more often

General suffering of the people of any walk of life (even issues in famous people) - off and on

so on and so forth.

In reality, a person should be SPECIFICALLY CALLED to do mission work.  It is NOT just for anyone who wants to "show off" and give out their name to a stranger in a foreign country.

It is EASIER for a poor man to share gospel through a facebook feed than it is for a rich man who "went to a special college" to share the gospel in the right way and to have the right sort of LOVE for the people they are trying to reach.

LOVE covers a multitude of SIN......so it is best to ensure LOVE is there in the first place.

There are MANY MANY MANY people right here in the USA who believe that the "feminist" movement is all about woman's rights.....when it is actually all about "themselves" and avoiding the reality of what it means to live righteously......thus ignoring TRUE human-rights (and woman's rights) in various parts of the globe (evidence of anti-semitism and far-left political nonsense).  We can simply thank those who claimed Christian background, but the hearts of the children were not changed by gospel.
