Should Christians support "arranged marriage"?

Look at it this way.  When Adam and Eve were in the garden, they DIDN'T have a choice in their marriage partner!

If one considers that argument, then the story of what is appropriate when it comes to arranged marriage is over.

However, God decided that the populations of the world would be of different races and nationalities as happened after the tower of babel.......

I have been to a friend's somewhat "arranged marriage."  She went to all 12 years of public school and also pursued a little college education.  Is she still married?  Yes.  Is she supportive of her home and husband?  Yes.

So because these factors are the case for HER, the same can be true of any Christian who participates in an "arranged marriage."

Here is the issue at hand.  Christian arranged marriages are NOT like other culture arranged marriages.  Some Christian arranged marriages have included polygyny practices and cousin marriages.  But the truly biblical "arranged marriages" are fully led by the HOLY SPIRIT, not by the will of the flesh.

Here are some biblical reasons to support biblical HOLY SPIRIT "arranged marriage":

1. The bible says it is not good for a man to be alone.  The secular world strives to improve and cater to the the "independent life."

2. The bible says that fornicators and whore-mongers are not a part of "God's plan."  It is better to settle down.

3. The bible says that scorners and idolaters are not a good part of "God's plan."  Marriage is a tool to show LOVE, while objects and false judgments of people are NOT something God wants humanity to honor.  In other words, political discourse are not "godly," but merely worldly tools.

4. The bible says to "choose life."  Yes, the Christian faith should be pro-life for most pregnancies so long as the mother's life isn't in danger.  Mary chose life and Elizabeth did too.  These two women begin the New Testament and the Christian faith.

5. The Holy Spirit led Joseph to marry, Mary, the mother of Jesus, despite the pregnancy out of wed-lock.  Giving a testimony of a HOLY SPIRIT derived marriage, continues to show the world that GOD still continues to SPEAK to us.

6. Education is only useful if someone shares it willingly with another.  A highly educated man with no love is like a clanging symbol.

7. The HOLY SPIRIT can lead couples to remain together even in difficult marriage circumstances.  Some couples end up with one spouse as an unbeliever, but the HOLY SPIRIT can work through some hearts of lost souls.

8. The guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT costs NO MONEY.  It doesn't cost a lot for a dress or wedding dress to understand this principle.

9. A HOLY SPIRIT arranged marriage shows the symbol of the COVENANT between God and Abraham.

10. The HOLY SPIRIT shows us that God's love is stronger than death.

These are various reasons to support the HOLY SPIRIT "arranged marriage."

The HOLY SPIRIT arranged marriage is NOT the same as a parent-led or a pastor-led marriage, though the family and church fellowship CAN and could enhance the conditions for such marriage.  In fact, having "man" intervene is a way to destroy the vital bond that was created at the beginning of the person's life.

These are various reasons NOT to support the HOLY SPIRIT "arranged marriage."

1. The values of the couple simply do not match.  Just because a "call" came into a man's mind, doesn't mean that the marriage should take place.  Just because the couple appear "good together," doesn't mean that they will respect each other in difficult times.

2. The couple is not mature in their faith and only look to outward appearances.  Although it IS possible to get married to a beautiful looking person, it is NOT good to look at the outward appearance, but to teach one's self to focus inwardly.  (Suggestion: male and female modesty and sobriety)

3. One of the people choosing arranged marriage is fairly "new" in the faith and understanding of how to make an "arranged marriage" work.  For most people, that would mean that a 3 1/2 year of dedication to following Jesus (study of the word) should have taken place following a baptism.

4. One of the couples have a severe disability or disease that could cause an early death.

5. One of the couples are not comfortable with people or arrangements like polygyny, brotherly and sisterly love (holy kiss), cousin marriage and things of that matter.  If one person simply doesn't want to practice "cousin marriage" for scientific/biological reasons (even though this HAS been a practice among people for a very long time since biblical days), then it is NOT good to continue with the particular arranged marriage.

6. One of the couples wants to be more "lenient" in their sexuality practices.  Swinging, open marriage, polyamoury or group marriage.

7. One of the couples wants to be more "strict" in their sexuality practices.  Frequent prayers, fastings, serving others in the missionary field, purposefully putting one's self into dangerous areas and so forth.

8. One of the couples doesn't want to improve their health so that a marriage bond can take place.  A marriage where the couple only get together once a year is not a very strong bond.  (If there is a health reason, then that is a legitimate reason)

9. One of the couples are not "strong Christians."  They want worldly entertainment.  They are interested in major political discourse with lots of anger and rage.

10. The couple either has a MAJOR racism issue.  One of the spouses hides their own hatred of a couple's sibling, cousin or other relative based on race or nationality.  The couple's culture and racial conditions are extremely different one from another that it would be hard to see things eye to eye.

11. The couple are being FORCED to get married by an outside source.  Maybe a family member or church friend is forcing the couple to wed.

A person who DID NOT participate in a Christian "arranged marriage" can STILL find ways to support those who are in such marriages, and find ways to BUILD VALUES within their heart that would encourage the HOLY SPIRIT to guide their marriage.  It is NEVER too late to invite the HOLY SPIRIT into a person's home or heart no matter if a person is married or single.

All in all, a Christian "arranged marriage" does NOT encourage "feminism behavior" as described in this article.  In stead, the LAMB is glorified.
