Christian Liberty: Healthy Foods (3)

When Noah got off of the ark, I am sure that vegetation was scarce.  However, meat was available in the form of clean or unclean meats.  It is conclusive that Noah actually had a vegetarian diet before he entered the ark.  When God creates man, he doesn't ignore the reality that man needs to eat.....something to survive.

Raw foods, like vegetarian unprocessed foods are high in fiber and nutrient.  The original diet in the garden of Eden was more than likely a raw food diet. It could have consisted of anything like nuts, berries, fruits and various vegetation.  Eating foods that are unprocessed and high in nutrient has been proven to fight off many diseases and prevent many ailments from coming to the body.

High health foods are good for the body too.  Consider various foods mentioned in the bible that Jesus and other people of the bible more than likely ate.  Many of the foods were more than likely helpful for the body in many ways.  The unfortunate thing is that many of the foods we have today may be filled with pesticide and other harmful elements.  So consider wisely how to obtain the high health foods.  Even a loaf of bread that is prepared from scratch with much love and with high consideration of the ingredients, is better than a cheaply purchased loaf that may contain any number of mystery ingredients.

The other thing to consider is fasting.  Christians today are focused so much on "eating" and not so much focused on fasting.  Fasting once a week, helps the body restore order.  Fasting off and on during seasonal times, as the Jewish traditions do in the day of Atonement for example, can keep our hearts focused on repentance and less focus on the conditions of this world.  Fasting for three days can eliminate trust in our flesh and give us trust in the divine.  The people who followed Jesus went three days without food before he offered up food to the thousands that were gathered.  Fasting for more than three days, can prepare us for persecutions.  Fasting keeps us away from worry about what we will eat or what we will wear.  The heavenly father knows what is best for us.
