What does that mean when someone says that?
"Jesus is the reason for the season" Isn't he the reason for EVERY season? Wasn't he there in the beginning when the seasons were created (re-read first few chapters of Genesis).
Well, the origins of Dec. 25 existed well before the time of Jesus birth!
Watch this video to get a proper understanding of the Dec. 25 pagan origin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMN6TQEmmIU&t=20s and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VnwI3Oo-2c&t=14s
The word "Christmas" is not found a KJV bible. Its not found in Hebrew manuscripts. But there is declaration in Jeremiah 10 that tree worship is Idolatry and sin. When something is sin, it is lawless.
The pagans are lawless because they are not "saved" and redeemed.
When a person is "lawless" they commit acts of fornication and idolatry. Things that PAUL told the gentile Christians not to commit.
Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Col 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Furthermore, what do the PAGANS believe about homosexuality and other fornication practice? Here is an article that explains that they believe in opposition to GOD's LAWS: Article Essentially, there is evidence that a lot of "mistle-toe" tradition actually led to any type of messing-around under the sun.
So if a person is Christian and saying "But God knows my heart," they are essentially making an excuse to put "toxic" chemical in the stir-fry for the special dinner sent before the elder of the land who gave great wisdom on what to avoid. They want to murder the innocent without understanding the truth of the origins of various beliefs and "wickedness" in the heart. If they say they are Christian and are supporting "lawless" things then they must have ignored the part where Jesus addressed Capernea. Essentially, they have not felt conviction about how it is wrong to commit acts of "idolatry" and "fornication" so to speak.
So what can a person do if they are "convicted" about this holiday as an actual Pagan holiday?
1. Understand that in areas where there IS actual persecution of people of differing faith (like in Muslim areas) that having someone celebrate with a "Christmas tree" could prevent some sorts of issues because at least things are tolerable. In other-words persecution may be lowered.
2. Understand that if your family members, friends or other loved ones continue to celebrate Dec. 25 they may not understand the issues with that date. Jesus was not born on that day, the scripture states it. They may not approve of God's laws as a whole to begin with! So they are "fake saved" or not fully redeemed by the blood of the lamb. A truly saved person does NOT need a paid "professional" pastor or elder to lead them to the TRUTH. He or she ONLY needs the scripture with a little knowledge of how to discern right and wrong. (Obviously a church that celebrates homosexuality(embraced by pagan people) is a church that declares Jesus null and void for the life of redemption).
3.You do not have to "unfriend" a friend who celebrates that day. Just like you do not need to unfriend or block people who go through a "divorce" or other tragedy. Simply keep that day as a day like any other day. Find out when the Feast of Dedication occurred and celebrate Jesus from John 10 as he declared that he and father are ONE. Celebrate his PRESENCE continually among us as a grown man! A grown man who never broke the Sabbath but by redeeming lost-broken-hurting people of Israel.
4. Are you being a "Judizer" by encouraging people to stop celebrating Dec. 25 Christmas? No. It is not a thing of telling a person what not to eat, what to circumcise, and what days for Sabbath and so forth. Fleeing idolatry and fornication IS NOT judizing or being legalistic. The law is GOOD if one strives for it lawfully. The entire word of God is good: "Heb_6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come," "1Ti_1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;"
5. If there is a nice Christmas Hymn that is sung, it may simply be sung at a different time of year. By understanding Jesus(yeshua) was more than likely born in the FALL. The scripture declares it!
6. If you attend a church with this holiday as being the declared day of his birth, either a. only attend the church when they have bible study b. attend a church that does not put big emphasis on this day. c. start a home-church. d. visit others on that day that need food, shelter, clothing, love.....by conversation and so forth.
Revelation 2:20-29King James Version (KJV)
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
The results of fleeing "idolatry" based holidays: less stress! less need to be greedy and brag! more time for actual truth from the bible! investment in people and not in things!
